Privacy policy

Last updated 20 October 2026

This policy covers Vinod Vocab Vault AI: the website, the Android app and the Chrome extension (together, “Vocab Vault”). Vocab Vault helps you learn English words: look a word up, save it, and review it. We collect only what that needs, we never sell your data, and there are no ads or trackers.

What we store

This data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore in your own account space, which only you can read. If you don't sign in, it stays on your device (browser storage or the app's local database) and is not sent to us.

What the Chrome extension reads on web pages

The extension only reads a page when you ask it to: when you double-click or select a word, or use its menu or shortcut. It then reads the selected text and the sentence around it. It does not record your browsing, does not read pages in the background, and does not collect form data. To underline words you have already saved, it compares the page's text with your saved words on your own computer; nothing about the page is sent anywhere.

Services that receive a word

To find a meaning, the word you look up (only the word) is sent to these services:

AI practice features send only what they need: “Use it” sends the word and the sentence you wrote, the reading assistant sends a list of words from the text (not the text), and “Ask Vinod” sends your question. Voice input and text recognition in the Android app run on your phone.

What we don't do

Your choices

Security

Data travels over HTTPS. Firestore security rules let each account read and write only its own vault. Shared libraries can be changed only by the account that created them.

Children

Vocab Vault is meant for learners aged 13 and over and does not knowingly collect data from younger children.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions: github.com/AnkushDhimanVashist/Vocabulary-Vault/issues.
